AI customer support for Shopify
Engaige is deepest on Shopify. It combines live Shopify Admin API data (orders, catalogue and SKUs, inventory by location, and pricing across markets and currencies) with the marketing content from your storefront. So your AI agent resolves WISMO, refunds, returns and product questions accurately and on-brand, and takes real, policy-governed actions in Shopify.
What your AI can do in Shopify
Get order
Pull any order with line items, SKUs, prices in the customer's currency, discounts, financial and fulfilment status, shipping address, tags, and fulfilment tracking (carrier, number, status, URL).
Get customer
Look up a customer by email, with their profile and linked orders.
Get customer orders
See a customer's most recent orders in one place, with full line-item and status detail.
Search products
Search the live catalogue by title, vendor, type, tag, SKU or barcode, with price ranges in the customer's market currency.
Get product details
Check variants, SKUs, prices, compare-at prices and availability, with real stock levels per location (available, on-hand, committed).

Refund in full, by line item, or a set amount. Choose the restock strategy, whether to refund shipping and duties, and the original payment method or store credit, validated against the order's remaining balance.
Cancel order
Cancel an unfulfilled order with optional refund, restock, customer notification and an internal staff note.
Change delivery address
Update the shipping address on an order before it ships, by order ID or order name.
Apply a discount
Add the customer to an existing discount, basic, buy-x-get-y or free shipping.
Add tag
Tag an order or customer so the right workflows and views fire.
Send order invoice
Email an invoice for an unpaid or partially paid order.
Send account invite
Invite a guest shopper to create an account.
These actions are available out of the box. Engaige can also run custom actions tailored to your Shopify setup.
Admin API commerce data, plus your storefront marketing
Most tools connect to Shopify by scraping your storefront. Engaige does more, it combines two sources.
From the Shopify Admin API (live, via OAuth with scoped permissions):
- Orders with line items, SKUs, discounts, financial and fulfilment status, shipping address and tags
- Fulfilment and tracking per shipment: carrier, tracking number, status and URL
- Customers and their order history
- Products and variants: SKUs, prices, compare-at prices, availability
- Inventory by location: available, on-hand and committed stock
- Pricing across markets and currencies: your shop currency and the customer’s presentment currency
From your storefront (scraped as part of onboarding): product marketing, brand voice and positioning.
So the agent answers with the exact price of a SKU in a customer’s market, not a best-effort guess, and it does it in your brand’s voice.
The actions Engaige takes in Shopify
Reading data is table stakes. Engaige takes real, policy-governed actions, and the depth is in the detail:
- Refunds in full, by line item, or a set amount, with your choice of restock strategy, whether to refund shipping and duties, and to the original payment method or as store credit, always validated against the order’s real balance and currency.
- Cancellations with optional refund, restock, notification and staff note.
- Address changes before the order ships.
- Tags, discounts, invoices and account invites to drive your workflows.
Beyond the out-of-the-box actions above, anything the Shopify API exposes can be set up as a custom action, entirely in the platform yourself, or with our team on Slack when you want a hand. For example: creating fulfilments with tracking, building replacement or exchange orders, updating inventory, issuing gift cards, updating customer records, or reading and writing metafields. Every action, built-in or custom, is governed by policies you control and shows its reasoning, so nothing happens as a black box.
Not sure your use case is possible? Ask the AI assistant on the Shopify API documentation whether the Admin API supports what you need. If Shopify says yes, Engaige can do it, out of the box or as a custom action we set up with you.
Resolves the whole ticket, not just the Shopify part
The #1 Shopify ticket, “where is my order”, needs more than a tracking number. Engaige reads the fulfilment and tracking on the order and, combined with your carrier and returns integrations, interprets what is actually happening, a delivery exception, a lost parcel, a return in flight, and resolves it. Because Engaige also connects to your returns (Loop, Returnless), subscription (Recharge, Skio) and carrier tools, a single ticket is resolved across your whole stack, not just inside Shopify.
Set up in one click, Engaige AI configures it
Connecting Shopify takes one click. From there, Engaige AI learns how your store is set up, your fields, your workflows, your edge cases, and configures the agent for you. Test everything in the Playground before it talks to a customer. No code, no developers, no multi-week implementation.
Why Engaige is the strongest AI agent for Shopify
Most AI tools offer a shallow Shopify connection or a long list of generic look-ups. Engaige goes deeper where it counts: real, policy-governed actions with the options a support team actually needs (line-item refunds, restock strategies, store credit), pricing that is correct per market and currency, and answers that combine live Admin-API data with your brand’s own marketing. You see the reasoning behind every action, you can test it in a Playground first, and it all runs inside the helpdesk you already use, resolving the whole ticket rather than just the Shopify lookup.
Shopify + Engaige: common questions
How deep is Engaige's Shopify integration?
Deep. Engaige combines two sources: the Shopify Admin API for structured commerce data (orders, line items, tracking, customers, products, SKUs, inventory by location, and pricing across markets and currencies) and your storefront for marketing content and brand voice. On top of reading data, it takes real, policy-governed actions in Shopify such as refunds, cancellations and address changes.
What can Engaige read from Shopify?
Orders (line items, prices in the customer's currency, discounts, financial and fulfilment status, shipping address, tags), fulfilment tracking (carrier, number, status, URL), customers and their order history, products and variants (SKUs, prices, compare-at, availability), live inventory per location, pricing across markets and currencies, and discounts.
What actions can Engaige take in Shopify?
Out of the box: issue refunds (full, partial, by line item or amount, with restock, shipping/duty and store-credit options), cancel orders, change delivery addresses, add tags, apply discounts, send order invoices and account invites. Beyond these, anything the Shopify API supports can be set up as a custom action, in the platform yourself or with our team on Slack (for example: create fulfilments, replacement orders, inventory updates, gift cards, customer updates or metafields). Every action is governed by policies you control.
Can Engaige do something that isn't on the list?
Almost certainly, yes. If the Shopify API supports it, it can be set up as a custom action, either configured in the platform yourself or with our team on Slack. A quick test: ask the AI assistant on Shopify's API documentation (shopify.dev/docs/api) whether the API supports your use case; if it does, Engaige can do it. The out-of-the-box actions cover the common support cases; custom actions cover the rest of your workflows.
Does Engaige handle pricing across markets and currencies?
Yes. Engaige reads both your shop currency and the customer's presentment currency, so it answers with the correct price for a SKU in that customer's market, and refunds are validated against the order's actual currency and balance.
Does it work with Shopify Plus and multiple stores?
Yes. Engaige works with every Shopify plan, including Plus, and supports multiple stores, each connected separately with its own configuration.
Do you just scrape my Shopify storefront?
No. Commerce data, orders, prices, SKUs, inventory and customers, comes from the Shopify Admin API. Your storefront is scraped only for marketing content and brand voice. Combined, answers reflect your real store and sound like your brand.
