Siena AI is an AI agent platform for consumer and e-commerce brands, built by New York-based Siena (siena.cx). It calls itself “the AI CX operating system for consumer brands” and, since October 2026, talks about building “the Agent of Record”. It is not the Italian city.

It runs customer service, shopping, social, reviews and QA agents, usually on top of a help desk such as Gorgias or Zendesk. This page covers Siena only. For a scored view, see our agent ranking. Facts below are as of October 2026.

What is Siena AI?

Siena AI is the product of Siena, a New York company selling AI agents to consumer brands. Its homepage heading is “The AI CX operating system for consumer brands”, and its October 2026 funding post says it is building the Agent of Record: one platform where agents and the people running the brand share the same understanding of the customer.

If you are new to the term, our guide to AI agents explains what an agent does that a scripted chatbot does not. Siena sits in that group: it takes actions in your store systems rather than only suggesting answers.

Who is behind Siena AI?

Siena was founded by Andrei Negrău (chief executive) and Lisa Popovici (president), according to The Next Web. The company announced a $17M Series A led by York IE on 6 October 2026. The Next Web, on 7 October 2026, puts its total funding at $29.7M.

Siena names Joyance Ventures in the round, plus existing investors Aglaé Ventures, Sierra Ventures and Super Angel Fund, in its Series A post. Siena says the money will go towards “more autonomous agents” and the shared infrastructure behind them.

What does Siena AI do?

Siena runs a set of agents on one shared customer memory: support, shopping, social, reviews and QA, plus tools for the team running them. The table lists each as Siena describes it on its homepage and in its Series A post.

Customer Service Agent”Empathic AI for support”: order status, returns, address updates, shipping labels, refunds, replacements, subscription skip, pause and swap
Shopping AgentAnswers product questions, recommends products and helps customers complete purchases
Social AgentModeration, community engagement and customer support across comments and DMs
Reviews Agent”Put review management on autopilot”
QA AgentScores every conversation against your own criteria

How does Siena customer service work with your help desk?

Siena connects to the help desk a brand already runs, and since its October 2026 Series A it also includes its own help desk workspace. Its integrations page lists Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, Gladly, Intercom and Dixa. The bundled help desk is described only briefly, so ask Siena what it covers.

Siena’s comparison page says it “connects seamlessly to your current help desk”. The Series A post says “the help desk is included”, so more of your team can use the same workspace. Gorgias’s own help centre has a Siena AI article: connect from the Gorgias App Store, then add the Gorgias account in Siena under Channels. See our Gorgias integration for how Engaige connects.

In a conversation, the Customer Service Agent can check order status, start returns, change addresses, create shipping labels, issue refunds and replacements, and let shoppers skip, pause or swap subscription orders. The subscriptions use case shows the same job on our side. The same integrations page adds commerce, returns, subscription, shipping, review and marketing tools.

How does Siena learn, and how do you test it?

You write SOPs in plain language and test every automation in the Playground before customers see it. The QA Agent scores live conversations, Siena Memory builds a profile of each customer, and Autopilot “helps build and improve agents”. In its Series A post, Siena says that as its agents serve customers, they add “what was asked, what they did and whether it worked” to a shared customer context.

The Playground post (byline 31 July 2025) describes SOPs as “plain language workflows for the agent to follow” and says every automation runs through the Playground first. It tests conflicting workflows, adversarial requests such as unauthorised discount requests, and drift from baseline.

The Memory post (byline 27 May 2025) calls Memory “a living profile of each customer” that feeds future conversations across channels. The same Series A post says operators can A/B test policies, journeys and discounts on a chosen share of customer traffic.

A 2024 post (byline 19 January 2024) says Siena “learns from the responses that the best agents deliver”, and the comparison page says you always know why its AI responds and how to adjust it. On the pages we read in October 2026, we did not find a described step where a person approves changes the AI learns. Ask Siena in a demo.

Who uses Siena AI?

Siena’s customers are DTC and consumer brands. Siena says it works with “hundreds of brands”, including Spanx, FIGS, HexClad and Comfrt. Its homepage also names Grüns, Kitsch, Coterie, Prose, Everyday Dose, Simple Modern, Terra Kaffe, Dossier, Earth Breeze, True Sea Moss, EHPLabs, Fresh Clean Threads, MUD\WTR and Momentous.

The results below appear on Siena’s homepage as of October 2026, so treat every figure as vendor-stated.

CustomerResult (vendor-stated)
SpanxHandles 50% of conversations
KitschAutomates over 68%
Coterie65% AI automation
Everyday DoseAutomates over 70%

The Next Web quotes the company’s headline claim of up to 80% of customer interactions. These are Siena’s own figures; ask any vendor how it defines the percentage and over which tickets.

Is Siena AI a fit for a scaling e-commerce brand?

Siena is an e-commerce specialist with real actions on refunds, returns and subscriptions, a broad e-commerce integration list and named DTC customers. Whether it suits you depends on your channel mix and on how you want the agent to improve after go-live. Three questions help you decide:

  • Is phone a big share of your mix? Siena’s voice status is unconfirmed.
  • Do you want social comments and reviews handled by the same vendor? Siena has agents for both.
  • How should the agent improve after go-live, and who signs off on each change?

For where Siena sits among other options, see our ranking of e-commerce chatbots, our guide to Gorgias alternatives and, for a cross-industry platform, Decagon AI.

Where does Engaige fit?

Engaige (that’s us) is the AI support agent for e-commerce brands. It works inside your help desk, and Engaige AI configures and improves it. MR MARVIS, a Shopify Plus brand, handles over 120,000 questions a year with Engaige, resolving over 60% of the conversations it’s involved in.

Engaige's value proposition, 'Resolve up to 90% of your support tickets automatically', above the product's policy editor: asked in plain language to create a policy for damaged items, Engaige AI adds 'Damaged item, replacement in stock', which checks stock, creates a free reshipment and leaves a note for the warehouse, captured 12 October 2026 in the Engaige demo organisation.

Engaige resolves tickets end to end: it takes the action in your store systems (refund, replacement, address change, cancellation), replies to the customer and closes the ticket, with a handover to your team where your policy says so.

Same category as Siena; our angle is what the agent learns from and who approves each change. You go live in Agent Assist in hours. Every reply your team sends is compared with what the agent suggested, and Engaige AI learns from the difference. That comparison is one signal next to the conversations, your inputs, hand-offs and emerging trends. Engaige AI proposes each policy change with its reasoning, and you approve it before it goes live. It keeps learning once autonomous.

Engaige AI shows what to change in your policies and why; you approve every change. Illustrative figures.

Open any conversation in Engaige and you see the full reasoning behind every answer and action. When the agent hands a ticket to your team, it leaves a summary of its reasoning as an internal note in the ticket.

Within the AI we can see the reasoning, and how it comes to a response. That shows us where information is missing or unclear, and helps us improve our workflow.

On Shopify, Engaige combines live Admin API data, pricing across markets and SKUs, inventory, orders and customers, with the marketing content from your storefront, so several live systems are read in one answer. See the Shopify integration.

Engaige is text-first by design (email, chat, WhatsApp, SMS and social DMs, no voice AI) and puts all its depth on resolving support conversations and the AI shopping assistant.

Ticket types go autonomous one at a time, most brands in about a week, up to 90% of supported tickets. You set per-step control, including thresholds, and test policies in the Playground, including real past tickets you paste in. Otrium, a fashion marketplace, resolves 60% of its 120,000 annual tickets end to end.

Frequently asked questions

Is Siena AI a help desk?

Mainly it is an agent layer that connects to Gorgias, Zendesk, Kustomer, Gladly, Intercom and Dixa. Since its October 2026 Series A it also includes its own help desk workspace; Siena has not described its scope in the pages we read.

Does Siena AI work with Gorgias and Zendesk?

Yes. Both appear on its integrations page, and Gorgias’s help centre documents the setup from the Gorgias App Store. Engaige also works inside Gorgias and Zendesk, so the choice is about how the agent learns, not about your help desk.

Who founded Siena AI and how much has it raised?

Andrei Negrău (chief executive) and Lisa Popovici (president) founded it. It announced a $17M Series A led by York IE on 6 October 2026, and The Next Web puts total funding at $29.7M.

Can you test Siena AI before it talks to customers?

Yes, through its Playground and QA Agent, described in the learning section above. Engaige also has a Playground, where you can test policies on real past tickets you paste in before they go live.

Does Siena AI handle phone calls?

Voice is part of Siena’s story, and The Next Web reported on 7 October 2026 that a phone voice agent is being developed. Engaige is text-first by design (email, chat, WhatsApp, SMS and social DMs, no voice AI), so all its depth goes into reading the order, checking your policy and acting in those channels.

Does Engaige show its reasoning?

Yes. Open any conversation in Engaige and you see the full reasoning behind every answer and action, with a summary left as an internal note when the agent hands a ticket to your team.

How is Engaige different from Siena AI?

Same category; our angle is how the agent learns: in Agent Assist, Engaige AI learns from your team’s replies and you approve each change it proposes. It is deepest on Shopify and is text-first and focused on resolution plus the AI shopping assistant.
