Zendesk help desk software is a customer service platform built around tickets. You buy Support for email ticketing, or Suite for messaging, live chat, a help centre, voice and AI agents on top. Copilot, quality assurance and workforce management cost extra. It serves every industry, not e-commerce specifically.
This guide covers the products inside it, Support vs Suite, what the plans cost in October 2026 and whether it fits an online store. For the wider picture of Zendesk and AI for stores, start at our Zendesk hub.
What is Zendesk help desk software?
Zendesk help desk software is a customer service platform built around tickets. Every channel lands in one agent workspace, in a single ticketing core with other products around it. Searches for “Zendesk software” mean this same platform.
Zendesk describes itself as an AI-first service platform. Its own explanation of what you use it for is managing tickets and conversations from email, chat, phone, social, messaging apps and the help centre in one interface, and it says teams choose it for ticket organisation, routing, collaboration and reminders.

This guide covers the customer service side. For how a single ticket moves through the workspace, see our ticketing guide.
Which products make up Zendesk?
Ticketing is the core of Zendesk. Messaging and live chat, the help centre, voice, AI agents, Copilot, Explore reporting, quality assurance and workforce management sit around it. Some are included in your plan and some are paid add-ons, so check which you need before you budget.

What is the difference between Zendesk Support and Suite?
Support is Zendesk’s email-based ticketing, the starting point for teams that have outgrown a shared inbox. Suite bundles ticketing with messaging, live chat, a help centre and voice, and Zendesk says AI agents come with every Suite and Support plan.
This is Zendesk’s own split, from its pricing page. On 15 October 2026 it shows four plans: Support Team, Suite Team, Suite Professional and Suite Enterprise + Copilot.
Older guides still list a Suite Growth plan. The pricing page now shows four plans.
For a store, the jump that matters is Support Team to Suite Team, because that is where live chat and the help centre arrive. Professional adds skills-based routing and is the first plan Copilot can be added to. If you want to test Enterprise features, the sandbox is covered separately.
What do Zendesk plans cost in 2026?
Zendesk’s UK pricing page lists Support Team at £15, Suite Team at £45 and Suite Professional at £89 per agent per month, billed yearly, with Enterprise via sales. EU prices are €19, €55 and €115. Monthly billing costs more. Copilot and workforce engagement are add-ons, and AI agents add a per-resolution charge.
These are Zendesk’s figures from the UK page and the EU page, fetched on 15 October 2026. Prices are geo-specific, because zendesk.com redirects by country. Confirm on the live page before you budget.
| Plan | Per agent per month, billed yearly | Per agent per month, billed monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Support Team | £15 (€19) | £20 (€25) |
| Suite Team | £45 (€55) | £59 (€69) |
| Suite Professional | £89 (€115) | £115 (€149) |
| Suite Enterprise + Copilot | Talk to sales | Talk to sales |
Add-ons are priced per agent per month, paid yearly: Workforce Engagement Bundle £40 (€50) and Contact Center £72 (€82). Copilot is also an add-on on Professional and higher plans; see Zendesk Copilot for its price. The Workforce Engagement Bundle covers staffing, scheduling, performance management, quality assurance and coaching.
AI agents are billed by automated resolution. Plans include 5 to 10 automated resolutions per agent per month, up to 10,000 a year. According to Zendesk’s UK pricing page, extra committed resolutions cost £1.30 (€1.50), or US$2.00 pay as you go. Zendesk counts a resolution only when the AI resolves the request without a human. A 14-day free trial defaults to Suite Professional with all features, no credit card required.
To budget, add agents multiplied by plan, the add-ons you need and the automated resolutions in a peak month. For a store, model November and December, not an average month. For a side-by-side with Engaige, see our Zendesk comparison.
What does Zendesk say its software achieves?
Zendesk says its AI agents can automate up to 80% of interactions and that it has delivered more than 4.8 billion resolutions. It also says 80,000+ companies choose Zendesk for AI service and that 22,000+ service teams trust Zendesk AI. These are Zendesk’s claims, taken from its homepage on 15 October 2026.
Zendesk also says it was named a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for the CRM Customer Engagement Center.
A word on “up to 80%”: it is an all-industry figure. For a store, ask what share of your own ticket types resolve end to end: where is my order, returns, cancellations, address changes. Then test on your own tickets in a trial or sandbox.
Is Zendesk a good fit for an online store?
Yes as a help desk: it is proven, covers every channel and is trusted by big teams. But it is built for every industry, so orders, returns and subscriptions are things you connect and configure, not what it thinks in. Whether it fits your store depends on how much of that set-up you want to own.
The strengths are real. The ticketing foundation is proven, the channels sit in one workspace, routing and automation go deep, there are more than 1,200 Marketplace apps (Zendesk’s Marketplace page, 15 October 2026), and Zendesk is an easy name to get approved internally.
The horizontal design shows in Zendesk’s own site. Its business-type menu lists retail as one of ten segments, next to government, healthcare and education, and it has a retail page. Its homepage says tailored automation is powerful for complex operations, though it “can take time to learn and fine-tune”.
Zendesk doesn’t think in orders, returns or subscriptions. It wasn’t built to. In our view, order data reaches a ticket through apps and integrations you set up; our Shopify integration guide covers what the Shopify app does.
In passing, Gorgias is a strong e-commerce help desk built around Shopify, good at organising support and deflection. If you are comparing help desks, see our Gorgias comparison and the Zendesk alternatives; for most stores the open question is the AI layer, not the help desk.
Stores with several channels, multiple teams or markets, or an existing Zendesk set-up usually keep it. If you are still choosing, our ticketing system guide covers what to look for.
Where does Engaige fit?
Engaige (that’s us) isn’t a help desk and doesn’t replace Zendesk. It is the e-commerce-native AI support agent that works inside the Zendesk you already run, on your existing tickets: keep your helpdesk, replace the AI. Behind it is Engaige AI, which learns from your conversations and inputs, configures your support agent and shows which policies it used.

Our view on AI-first versus bolt-on: Zendesk’s AI sits on horizontal ticketing, while Engaige is AI-first and built for e-commerce. On an order ticket, the action happens in the connected system first, whether a refund, return, cancellation, address change, subscription change or a where-is-my-order answer. Then Engaige replies and closes the ticket in Zendesk. The rest goes to your team.
On Shopify, Engaige combines live Admin API data, pricing across markets and SKUs, inventory, orders and customers with the marketing content from your storefront, so it goes deeper than tools that only scrape. Every answer and action shows why, with the source.
Engaige AI compares what your team said with what the agent suggested, learns from the difference, and improves the agent, under your supervision: you approve the changes. Engaige is live in Agent Assist in hours, most brands go autonomous in about a week, and Engaige automates up to 90% of supported tickets. Autonomous from day one is also supported.
Across all its support tickets, Otrium has 60% of 120,000 annual tickets resolved end to end.
With Engaige, we are able to automatically resolve 60% of the 120,000 support tickets that we receive annually.
Cost is flat to a ticket volume, predictable as you scale. Engaige is built for resolution, not enterprise overhead. See how it works on our Zendesk integration page, or read the Zendesk comparison.
